A downloadable Commodore 64 Game

(c) 2026 Digital Monastery (Hokuto*Force Game Developing Division)
By Flavioweb and Bisboch

Based on the original SLALOM game
by COMMODORE ELEC. LTD & HAL LABORATORY, JAPAN

The Winter Olympics may have ended, but the pleasures of skiing continue on the COMMODORE 64 with SUPER SLALOM, a revamped edition of the legendary Commodore/Hal game originally created for the Japan-only MAX MACHINE. This time you're in for remade colourful graphics, a new OST full of diverse tracks, enhanced gameplay and six different slopes (compared to the repeated couple of slopes of the original) created from scratch.

And, to be true to this "SKI FOREVER" motto, SUPER SLALOM also includes a full fledged LEVEL EDITOR!

In a SEUCK fashion, use your joystick and/or keyboard to easily access all the core features of the editor. Draw your slopes with a joystick, put the hazards, tune the difficulty. Choose between ten scenarios and eleven different soundtracks to create the perfect mix-and-match for each of the six unique slopes. Save it to disk, both as re-editable data and as a standalone game. Or, just take the vanilla SUPER SLALOM data and customize it, make it easier, harder, weirder. Or... just play SUPER SLALOM as a standalone game and have fun dropping crazy high scores.

Note:

If you can choose, play it in NTSC format, 60Hz - this is the REAL challenge. That said, for PAL users: play it PAL, it's perfectly fine, we all played that cracked version of SLALOM back in the 1980s (without even being sure about its real name!) and it played great, no one of us complained about the 50Hz. The game and the music will play a little bit slower, but the challenge is still there!

A very nice game and a even nicer C.Kit. I started to create own rounds to complete an own game. Was it desired that the "empty" rounds all have bonus fields on the left side of the run? There's of course no difficulty in deleting them, but the rounds are not really "empty". Nevermind, this is a great game, thank you very much for that, and tanti saluti di Svizzera!

Hi! Nice catch actually! It was unintended and yes, this way they're... empt-ish, let' say:D
But yes, as you point out with CTRL+DEL you get the real zen emptiness you need to properly start your slope!

Great game. Thanks for doing this. It's awesome.

hey, thank you! The idea that Super Slalom can put a smile on someone's face is the only true reason it exsists:)

Nice game that's somewhat reminiscent of the classic "Olympic Skier" by Shaun Southern (Mastertronic). A bit more variety in the level design and a true simultaneous 2-player mode would have been a welcome addition. Our German-language review can be found at 00:53:19. English subtitles are also available. Subscription to our YouTube and Twitch channel is welcome. 🙂

Thank you very much for your coverage! We were tied to the limits of the original 1983 japanese game "Slalom" by Hal Labs, but who knows, maybe one day we'll do a proper sequel.

Hello, in my last issue of Retro News Flash, I covered the game Super Slalom and ran a short report on it. It´s a really great game, I really liked it. All the best from Magisthan´s Spielekiste. 🙂

Thank you very much! I studied German at highschool and ich habe alles vergessen, but nonetheless your commentary was nice to hear together with the slope rolling down:)

(+1)

Hi, Thanks. But your German is probably way better than my Italian. I have a good friend whose father is Italian, and I often visit southern Italy, but I still don't speak Italian.  :-)

Hai inquadrato quell'emozione perfettamente.

Brilliant rendition, the dream of expanding gameplay. Great job guys. 👍

Great job to you. Your games are shockingly good!

Thank you for this - here is my tribute...

Thank you! I'm fascinated by your comparison with Horace goes Skiing. The original Slalom game - on which Super Slalom is based - was published in Japan in 1983, so at the same time Horace goes Skiing was published in Europe. I suspect both games referenced the Taito arcade Game Alpine Ski (1982). Well, Horace goes Skiing references also Frogger - this arcade quoting so very Horace-y. I always loved Horace as a character. So weird, so 'made in the UK'.

I love it! But, I am looking for some little bumps to go over.

Thanks! Yes, bumps would definitely be a great addition. More animals too!

Very nice game!

Wow, THE Saberman! Thanks for the video coverage!
I'm glad you enjoyed the game. Great gameplay video too: you almost made it to the final stage:)

(+1)

Next time I'll do better :-)

(+1)

Grazie a te!

Nicely done, like Ski but better. I added it to my video along with other games released in February.

Ah, such an honour. You're one of my favourite sources to catch up with the new 64 games every month:) Thanks!

Great game, thanks.

Thank you for your gameplay video. It's SUPER interesting to see how real gamers (ie not the development team of the game itself) play the game. You did great, it becomes a hard game very quickly!

Thank you! I'm glad you liked the video. The game gets challenging quickly, but that's what adds to its character.

Daje forte!

Grazie

Good job, thank you! :) Super Slalom + Editor (2026, Flavioweb and Bisboch)

Why, thank you! I know it's not a crazy hi-tech game, but I also know that those who played the original game back in the 80s have fond memories of it. I hope to bring a smile on their faces.
